Secretariat's Welcome

!
Honourable Delegates,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the 25th annual session of the North American Model United Nations (NAMUN) in Toronto, Canada, February 18th-21st, 2010.
The 25th session of NAMUN will offer eight diverse committees, which promise to provide four days of intense debate and negotiation. Delegates may find themselves on the Human Rights Council debating freedom of religion and expression, or attempting to obtain recognition for national heritage sites from UNESCO, or engaged in the difficult effort to resolve situations of ethnic conflict and warfare. NAMUN’s offerings are multidisciplinary, and our discussions will draw on knowledge from many different academic disciplines. The NAMUN tradition of intimate committee dynamics allows each delegate the chance to actively participate, as well as to form lifelong friendships with fellow delegates and NAMUN staff members from across North America and around the world.
One of the goals of NAMUN is to reaffirm the noble ideals of the United Nations, which articulates a vision in which all states have a shared responsibility to seek the dream of peace, safety, and prosperity for all citizens of this planet. NAMUN strives to celebrate this unwavering vision in a complex and changing world. I challenge you to live up that responsibility. At NAMUN, we invite you to push the boundaries of the international system and imagine innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the global community.
On behalf of the staff and secretariat of NAMUN, I invite you to join us in February 2010 for an experience that promises to be exciting, educational, and, most importantly, fun!
Sincerely,
Maria Lee
Secretary General
NAMUN
