Founded in 1827, the University of Toronto is one of Canada’s oldest and most renowned institutes of higher education. Among its many accolades, UofT was home to Sir Frederick G. Banting, Charles H. Best, and JJR Macleod who distilled the life-saving hormone insulin which is now used all over the globe to treat diabetes and is celebrating its 100th year of discovery.

Since then, University of Toronto has produced two Governors General, four Prime Ministers of Canada and fourteen Justices of the Supreme Court. Among them is Lester B. Pearson - Canada’s foremost diplomat of the mid-20th century and Prime Minister, who received the Nobel Peace Prize for organizing the United Nations Emergency Force to resolve the Suez Canal Crisis.

The University of Toronto is ranked among the top universities of the world. It is consistently ranked first in Canada, and in the top 20 in numerous international rankings for research, innovation, and employability according to Times Higher Education.

North American Model United Nations is proud to be part of a long and rich tradition of Model United Nations and debate at the University of Toronto. In addition to NAMUN, UofT boasts two more conferences that facilitate solely Integrated Crisis committees and high school delegates respectively. Among them, NAMUN is honoured to be the only conference at the University of Toronto facilitating a Model United Nations conference for university students from across the globe.
