Background guides for committees have been posted.

Delegates are expected to write a position paper outlining their respective country's or character's position with respect to their committee topics. This should be a minimum 500 word paper (not exceeding 1500 words) outlining the relevance of their country/character in the committee. Delegates must send this paper prior to February 20th to the President of the committee.

The United Nations General Assembly is the only principal organ of the United Nations in which all member nations have equal representation. Its prime responsibility is to appropriately allocate the budget of the United Nations by receiving reports from other organs of the United Nations and making recommendations in the form of General Assembly Resolutions.
Disarmament and International Security (DISEC)
DISEC takes on the responsibility of creating a foundation for sustained peace and stability around the globe. The committee also presents itself as a forum for governments to address issues of a potentially violent nature before they erupt into open conflict. At NAMUN XXVII, delegates will cover:
Economic and Financial (ECOFIN)
ECOFIN primarily debates and makes recommendations for global economic stability. The committee deals with issues relating to economic growth, questions of macroeconomic policy, and plans for unforeseen crises.
Social, Humanitarian and Cultural (SOCHUM)
SOCHUM deals with a wide range of social issues such as equality, cultural preservation, and human rights. Topics of great concern to the committee include the treatment of ethnic minorities, women and children, as well as the promotion of fundamental freedoms. At NAMUN XXVII, delegates will cover:
Legal
Legal is the primary forum for discussing the development and codification of public international law. The Committee makes recommendations concerning legal principles of cooperation and the maintenance of international peace and security through such regulations. At NAMUN XXVII, delegates will cover:
Human Rights Council (HRC)
UNHRC is primarily aimed at addressing human rights violations as outlined in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The committee is tasked with understanding human rights issues around the global through the use of an advisory panel and putting that knowledge to use by crafting resolutions. At NAMUN XXVII, delegates will cover:
World Health Organization (WHO)
Created as a branch of the UN in 1948, WHO serves as the directing and coordinating authority for health within the UN system. Its priorities are gathering of information and evidence about the global health situation, strengthening health systems, and enhancing cooperation between nations in case of a health crisis.
