SECRETARIAT DESCRIPTIONS

 

Deputy Secretary-General, Academics

  • Reports directly to the Secretary General
  • Leads the Academic Branch and coordinates all Academic activities and operations
  • Manages the staff hiring process for all NAMUN staff
  • Oversees Academic staff management and training
  • Coordinates the Committee Selection process over Summer
  • Ensures that Branch Directors meet appropriate deadlines for academic content, including the completion of committee topics, background guides and staff training sessions
  • Acts as chief liaison to delegates and faculty advisors on Conference Rules of Procedure

Deputy Secretary-General, Operations

  • Reports directly to the Secretary-General
  • Leads the Operations Branch and coordinates all logistics activities
  • Oversees Conference venue and Partner Hotel selection
  • Coordinates conference materials, including placards, gavels, awards and other administrative supplies
  • Liaises with campus organizations to coordinate conference venue and schedules

Director General External Affairs

  • Reports directly to the Secretary-General
  • Oversees delegate recruitment and coordinates delegate correspondence on all external NAMUN accounts
  • Organizes registration for the Conference
  • Leads external financial management
  • Represents the organization for external relations in consultation with the Secretariat
  • Strives to promote delegate registration in coordination with the Senior Advisors
  • Supervises activities of the External Affairs Coordinator

Director of Crisis Committees

  • Reports to the Deputy Secretary-General, Academics
  • Oversees and coordinates the selection of the Integrated Simulation and Joint Crisis Committees
  • Responsible for the management and training of the Crisis Team
  • Ensures that all background guides and briefing papers are submitted to the DSG, Academics
  • Coordinates writing workshops for chairs to ensure high quality of academic content
  • Leads the planning and operation of all crisis-based simulations in the Crisis Committees Branch

Director of Specialized Agencies

  • Reports to the Deputy Secretary-General, Academics
  • Oversees and coordinates the selection of Specialized Agencies Committees
  • Responsible for the management and training of Specialized Agencies Team
  • Ensures that all SA background guides and briefing papers are submitted to the DSG, Academics
  • Coordinates writing workshops for chairs to ensure high quality of academic content
  • Leads the planning and operation of all crisis-based simulations in the Specialized Agencies

Director of General Assemblies

  • Reports to the Deputy Secretary-General, Academics
  • Oversees and coordinates the selection of General Assemblies Committees
  • Responsible for the management and training of General Assemblies Team
  • Ensures that all GA background guides and briefing papers are submitted to the DSG, Academics
  • Coordinates writing workshops for chairs to ensure high quality of academic content

Co-Director of Procedures & Training (2 Positions)

  • Reports to the Deputy Secretary-General, Academics
  • Oversees the drafting of NAMUN 2018 Rules of Procedure
  • Responsible for the management and training of Moderators
  • Prepares a detailed training curriculum for submission to the DSG, Academics and Secretary-General
  • Assists in the procedural training of all other Academic staff where necessary

Director of Logistics and Operations

  • Reports to Deputy Secretary-General, Operations
  • Recruits and trains all Conference Services Staff
  • Organizes social events for the Conference along with Director of Corporate Relations
  • Assists with coordination of conference materials including but not limited to printing and AV equipment acquisition
  • Assists DSGO when necessary

Director of Corporate Relations

  • Reports to the Deputy Secretary-General, Operations
  • Leads all fundraising and partnerships for the Conference
  • Coordinates marketing efforts
  • Responsible for the management and training of Corporate Relations team
  • Produces and edits a 2018 Prospectus to be distributed to sponsors
  • Organizes social events for the Conference along with Director of Logistics and Operations

Co-Director of Communication and Design (Design Aspect)

  • Reports directly to the Secretary-General
  • Manages the branding and visibility of NAMUN 2018
  • Responsible for the management of the NAMUN 2018 website
  • Designs all branded content for the conference website, delegate handbook, and other conference materials
  • Manages graphic design Senior Staff Position
  • Coordinates with Co-Director of Communication and Design

Co-Director of Communication and Design (Communications Aspect)

  • Reports directly to the Secretary-General
  • Runs social media platforms and manages media content
  • Manages the Emissary and related blog and media content
  • Responsible for the hiring of the Emissary staff including Senior Editors, Photographers, and Journalists
  • Manages team and Senior Staff members including but not limited to photographers, videographers, editors and journalists
  • Coordinates the vision for the publication in conjunction with the Secretariat
  • Coordinates with Co-Director of Communication and Design
