Position Papers

A position paper is a brief statement of a delegate’s goals and strategies upon entering the conference. It is a broad statement of purpose and evidence of research that clearly demonstrates the following:

  • A familiarity with and command of the facts on the issue at hand

  • A familiarity with their country or character and the specific goals, characteristics, and limitations of this role, behaving accordingly

  • A clear plan of action and tangible objectives that they intend to achieve at the conference

Submission of an appropriate position paper before the deadline is required to be considered for any award.

The best position papers in each committee will be recognized with a Book Award.

Criteria

  • Papers cannot exceed the length of one sheet of letter-sized paper (excess material will not be read)

  • 1-inch margins

  • 12-point font

  • Please include your Full Name, School and Committee

  • Please cite any external sources used for research when writing your position papers

  • Should be submitted in PDF format

  • Please use the following format to name your file: Country/Character_Committee_NAMUN 2019 (i.e. Kenya_TRC_NAMUN 2019 or Deb Fischer_Republican Governors Association_NAMUN 2019)

Position papers must be submitted to the committee email address (which can be found here) by the beginning of the conference on February 21st, 2019 to be considered.
