CHAIR

Positions available: 17

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Reports to: Deputy Secretary General, Academics + respective Branch director

 

Chairs are responsible for leading the academic vision of their committees. Chairs write their committee’s background guide, serve as the academic reference, and ensure that debate is engaging. Ideal candidates should be interested in academic research, and possess strong writing skills.

 

Chairs are expected to:

  • Lead a committee of 15-80 delegates.

  • Maintain the academic focus and accuracy of committee debate.

  • Produce a background guide on a given topic and meet all deadlines.

  • Interact with delegates, address issues and concerns in the committee room.

  • Work closely with the Moderator of their committees and crisis staff (for non-GAs).

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings (from September to February).

  • Be present for the entirety of the conference (February 22-25, 2018).

 

Prior experience with Model UN is not necessary - your enthusiasm is what matters the most!

Crisis Manager

Positions available: 7

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Reports to: Deputy Secretary General, Academics + respective Branch director

 

Crisis Managers are in charge of coordinating the progression of crisis situations within their committee. They assume a role in leadership and act as the head of all things related to crisis, while also managing and engaging their analysts before and throughout the conference. They manage directives and requests for information as they arise. Ideal candidates should be organized, focused, quick on their feet, and adept at addressing unexpected problems.

 

Crisis Managers are expected to:

  • Manage a team of Crisis Analysts in a fast-paced environment.

  • Maintain regular communication between their committee room and crisis room.

  • Be familiar with the academic content of the committee topic(s).

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings (from September to February).

  • Be present for the entirety of the conference (February 22-25, 2018).

 

There will be 1 assigned Crisis Manager for each Specialized Agency or Crisis Committee.

App developer

Positions available: 1-2

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Reports to: Director of Branding & Design

 

This year, NAMUN2018 is working towards the creation of a NAMUN mobile app that is to be used by the delegates for general announcements, updates, academic content etc. The App Developer(s) will collaborate with the Director of Branding and Design in the creation, development, and maintenance of the NAMUN mobile app for iOS and Android that will be used for the duration of the conference. 

 

The App Developer(s) are expected to:

  • Work on the design and development of the NAMUN mobile app (under the guidance of the Director of Branding & Design).

  • Help to maintain and update the NAMUN mobile app within the duration of the conference.

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings (from September to February).

  • Be present for the entirety of the conference (February 22-25, 2018).

 

Experience with mobile app development and/or coding is recommended.
