CHAIR

Positions available: 16-20

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Reports to: Deputy Secretary General, Content + respective Branch director

Chairs are responsible for leading the academic vision of their committees. Chairs write their committee’s background guide, serve as the academic reference, and ensure that debate is engaging. Ideal candidates should be interested in academic research, and possess strong writing skills.

Chairs are expected to:

  • Lead a committee of 15-80 delegates.

  • Maintain the academic focus and accuracy of committee debate.

  • Produce a background guide on a given topic and meet all deadlines.

  • Interact with delegates, address issues and concerns in the committee room.

  • Work closely with the Moderator of their committees and crisis staff (for non-GAs).

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings (from July to February).

  • Be present for the entirety of the conference (February 20-23, 2020).

Prior experience with Model UN is not necessary - your enthusiasm is what matters the most!

CRISIS MANAGER

Positions available: 6-10

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Reports to: Deputy Secretary General, Content + respective Branch director

Crisis Managers are in charge of coordinating the progression of crisis situations within their committee. They assume a role in leadership and oversee the development of the committee. They also manage and engage  their analysts before and throughout the conference. They make decisions pertaining to directives and requests for information as they arise. Ideal candidates should be organized, focused, quick on their feet, and adept at addressing unexpected problems.

Crisis Managers are expected to:

  • Manage a team of Crisis Analysts in a fast-paced environment.

  • Maintain regular communication between their committee room and crisis room.

  • Be familiar with the academic content of the committee topic(s).

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings (from July to February).

  • Be present for the entirety of the conference (February 20-23, 2020).

There will be 1 assigned Crisis Manager for each Specialized Agency or Crisis Committee.
