Position Papers

A position paper is a brief summary of a delegate’s agenda and desired outcomes for the duration of the conference. It is a broad statement of purpose and should clearly demonstrate or include the following:

  • A depth of knowledge relating to the issues presented in the background guide, including but not limited to:

  • A deep understanding of the stance of the delegate’s assigned country, faction, or character on the committee’s topic/topics of discussion.

  • Strategies the delegate might employ to develop this position and attain the country/character’s goals

  • Clear tangible objectives to be achieved throughout the committee’s sessions

  • In the case of delegates in Crisis committees, include public goals (achieved in conjunction with other delegates) and private goals (achieved through communication with the backroom via note).
